The Best Bang Bang Shrimp recipe features crispy breaded shrimp coated in spicy sweet copycat Bang Bang sauce made with Thai sweet chili and mayo. Creamy, a hint of spice and sweetness—this easy bang bang shrimp is one of my favorite shrimp dinners!
Note: Make 1 batch Bang Bang sauce for lightly coated shrimp. Make 2 batches for decadently doused Bang Bang Shrimp!
Whisk together all Bang Bang Sauce ingredients in a small bowl until well combined: mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili, sriracha, and rice vinegar. Set aside.
Fry the Breaded Shrimp
Add buttermilk to a shallow bowl. Add cornstarch to a second shallow bowl. In large bowl, stir together Panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
One shrimp at a time, dip in buttermilk, then dredge in cornstarch, dip back into buttermilk, and finally dredge in Panko mixture, squeezing to seal in the breadcrumb coating.
Heat oil in a deep fryer, or a little over 1 inch of oil in a deep pan, to 350°F. Deep fry shrimp for 2-4 minutes, until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to catch excess oil.
How to Make Bang Bang Shrimp
Transfer fried shrimp to a large bowl and add Bang Bang sauce on top. Toss to coat. Serve over rice and topped with green onions. Enjoy!
