Substitute for Everything Bagel Seasoning

One of the bane of my breakfast lovin’ heart’s existence? The sore lack of everything bagel seasoning that’s sprinkled onto so-called “everything” bagels! And why is it that when you finally do get one that’s fully crusted, it drops off the second you bite into it? Come on!

So my hack for solving this? Make my own everything bagel seasoning, smear generous amounts of cream cheese on said bagel, and sprinkle as much of my homemade seasoning as I’d like on top! The result? The most everything bagel you’ve ever seen.

This homemade everything but the bagel seasoning recipe packs it all: loads of black and white sesame seeds, crucial dried onion and garlic, beautiful little poppy seeds, and, of course, lots of flaky sea salt. You can put it on everything, from avocado toast to eggs, to chicken, and more!

Substitute for everything bagel seasoning is made with white and black sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried minced onion and garlic, and flaky sea salt.

Ingredients In Everything Bagel Seasoning

  • White sesame seeds & black sesame seeds – the combination of these two add flavor and the gorgeous signature look of everything bagel seasoning
  • Poppy seedsbuy poppy seeds online or grab them at your grocery store. Without these, this DIY seasoning is not really bagel seasoning.
  • Onion – dried, minced onion adds such a wonderful depth of flavor
  • Garlic – dried, minced garlic is needed for this recipe
  • Salt – feel free to use coarse salt or flaky sea salt. Just make sure to use a larger salt for beautiful texture.
