Chicken wings are one of Erik’s favorite things to eat. He’s crazy about them for dinner, for game day, for all of the above. So when he asked me to make buffalo wings, I created this air fryer buffalo wings recipe. It’s quicker and easier, with less mess and less oil than deep-fried wings. The healthier version means we can eat more wings!

Best Air Fryer Buffalo Wings Ingredients
The best air fryer buffalo wings recipe is so easy to make and requires just a few ingredients for bold, delicious flavor.
- Chicken wings – make sure to pat dry wings before tossing with spices to avoid adding moisture that’ll curtail a crispy skin.
- Onion powder
- Garlic salt – this is my personal favorite, a homemade recipe for delicious flavor.
- Smoked paprika
- Black pepper – freshly-cracked is awesome, but already ground is fine too.
- Butter – I use unsalted so the garlic salt can really add the flavor.
- Frank’s hot sauce – you can use any brand you’d like, but this one’s my go-to for classic buffalo sauce flavor.
- Lemon – make sure to use fresh-squeezed lemon for the best, bright flavor.

How to Cook Buffalo Wings in an Air Fryer
Learning how to cook buffalo wings in the air fryer is so easy. Just make sure to not overcrowd the wings—spread them out in a single, spaced-out layer to avoid steaming the chicken. This will ensure that your buffalo wings are crispy!
- Prepare the chicken: Pat dry chicken wings. Add wings to a bowl with onion powder, garlic salt, paprika, and black pepper. Toss to combine.

- Cook the wings: Preheat air fryer to 400°F and coat with cooking spray. Cook chicken wings in a single layer for about 16 minutes, flipping halfway through.

- Toss wings in sauce: In a bowl, whisk together butter, hot sauce, and lemon. Add wings and toss until very well coated. Serve air fryer buffalo chicken wings with ranch dressing, celery sticks and 7 layer dip (so good!) or beer cheese dip.
