The Chocolate Cake Shot Recipe

The first time I had a chocolate cake shot, my friend, Angelica, swore that the crazy combination of ingredients – hazelnut liqueur, vanilla vodka, sugar, and lemon – would result in a chocolate cake-like taste.

Was she right? Yes! But the flavor of a chocolate cake doesn’t come through at the first sip, it appears magically thereafter. Intrigued? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Let’s make chocolate cake shots and see what the fuss is about!

What’s in a Chocolate Cake Shot

  • Frangelico – or another hazelnut liqueur
  • Vanilla vodka – use a high quality vodka you’ve enjoyed before
  • Sugar
  • Lemon wedge

A Chocolate Cake Shot with Frangelico

Chocolate cake shots are usually made with Frangelico, a hazelnut liqueur with hints of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla – it’s similar in taste to a chocolate espresso martini. When combined with vanilla vodka and finished with a taste like lemon sugar, the flavors of chocolate cake arise.

How do you make a Chocolate Cake Shot?

Learning how to make this vodka-infused recipe is simple.

  1. Start by adding Frangelico or any other hazelnut liqueur into a shot glass. Pour vanilla vodka over the hazelnut liqueur.
  2. Dip a lemon wedge in sugar to coat. Place the sugar-coated lemon wedge on the edge of the shot glass.
  3. Now, shoot it and suck on the sugar lemon wedge. Wait for it… chocolate cake flavors ignite!
