Pineapple Upside Down Cake Shot

You know the hassle of making pineapple upside down cake? What if you could have all of that sweet, tart, tasty flavor without the work? (And you got a little booze in the deal?) That’s what today’s pineapple upside down cake shot is all about! 3 simple ingredients, just 1 minute of work, and voila, you’re on your way to tasting this dessert-inspired shot recipe!

What is a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Shot?

A pineapple upside down cake shot is a vodka shot infused with tart pineapple juice and tinged with sweet grenadine, when, altogether combined, taste like the dessert of the same name.

What is in a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Shot?

Pineapple upside down cake shots are made with vanilla or whipped cream vodka, pineapple juice, and grenadine. The shot is finished off with a maraschino cherry garnish.

  • Vodka: use vanilla vodka for a subtler cake flavor and (my preferred) whipped cream vodka for an extra indulgent taste.
  • Pineapple Juice: canned juice works great in pineapple upside cake shots.
  • Grenadine
  • For garnish: Maraschino cherries add an extra dessert vibe.

How to Make Pineapple Upside Down Cake Shots

  1. First, fill a cocktail shaker with ice—about halfway is fine. Then, add vodka and pineapple juice. Shake it with vigor until chilled. Next, strain into a shot glass.
  2. To add the beautiful red grenadine, gently pour it over the back of a spoon tilted over the mouth of the shot glass. Slowly create a distinct bottom layer of grenadine.
  3. Shoot and enjoy!
