Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon salt, optional
- 2 teaspoons coconut oil
- 2 cups unsalted, raw pecans
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or greased foil. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together coconut sugar, cinnamon and maple.
- In a large, nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, add coconut oil and the coconut sugar mixture. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Add pecans and increase heat to medium. Stir until pecans are thoroughly coated. Switch to stirring occasionally, allowing pecans to soak in the sugar mixture. Watch the pecans closely. Stir until the sugar mixture is almost completely soaked up and the pecans are sticky like taffy. This will take 3-5 minutes.
- Pour pecans onto the prepared baking sheet, creating an even, spread out layer. Set baking sheet on a cooling rack. Allow to cool for 1 hour. Break apart into desired size. Enjoy!

Loved these! Followed someone else’s commented variation and added a little vanilla. So good and so easy!
Oh yummy! So happy to hear that you enjoyed these, Jordan. ๐
Hi LR, thank you! The coconut oil is derived from a coconut tree–so totally plant-based. ๐ Can’t wait to hear what you think!
WOW! These are amazing! And EASY! Thanks so much!
I’m so happy you enjoyed them, Dana! ๐
Hey, thanks for this. I made a few variations I wanted to share with you. I added a little vanilla, fresh ground cinnamon, didn’t have coconut sugar so I used a half packet of Truvia. So yumm-didli-mmmm!
My pleasure, Yolanda! ๐ I’m so happy that you enjoyed this. What a fantastic idea to add vanilla, ground cinnamon and Truvia. ๐ I can just imagine how wonderful your home smelled when you were making these. Thanks for taking the time to let me know about your variations. ๐
I love candied nuts. These look so good! I like the idea of giving candied nuts out for the holidays. A) around Christmas, you can get tired of baked goods and B) they’re a good option for people with gluten or dairy intolerance (although, of course, nut allergies are also a thing.)
As for me, I am in no hurry to see pecanless recipes. Pecans ftw!
There’s just something about the holidays that make candied nuts totally necessary. ๐ Agreed with both points! Sometimes you just need a break from the oven, and you’ve got friends with diet restrictions. ๐ Thanks so much, Joyce! ๐
I agree – maple and cinnamon is one of the best combos! The candied pecans I usually make have neither – what?!? Can’t wait to give this version a try ๐
The combo is SO delicious! Be sure to let me know how you like it! ๐ Thanks so much, Megan. ๐
These could not sound easier-to-make or more perfect to eat!! I wanna snag a handful right now just looking at them ๐
Woot woot! Just a handful might not do… ๐ Better have the entire batch! ๐ Thanks Rachel.
I’m so far behind on visiting your site and recipes Demeter! My bad ๐ Here’s the deal in my household: I LOVE pecans and the hubby doesn’t. The good news is all the pecans are for me! Can’t wait to try these ๐
Haha. No biggie! All for you sounds awesome! ๐ Hope you love it, Karrie!
I could eat these all day. Growing up in Georgia we had a big pecan tree in our yard and back then I took them for granted. Now that I can’t just get them when I want I am starting to realize how lucky we were to have a tree in our yard. This recipe will be on my gift giving list this year. Thanks
Woah, that must have been awesome!!! I can only imagine how wonderful it was… Ya never know til it’s gone, right? Lol. Hope you and your family enjoy this, Celeste! ๐
Is it possible to become an addict from pecans like these? ๐ Pecan-less should NEVER be a thing, nor should chocolate-less. My sympathy goes out to two friends of mine who will never be able to experience the glory of chocolate or pecans because they’re allergic. I can’t even think about that! Another amazing recipe as always, Demeter!! ๐
Haha… maybe? In the tastiest way possible. ๐ Right?? If they ever become a thing, I’ll just cover my ears. Aw, your poor friends… that totally stinks! Thanks so much, Marina! ๐
