Mimosa with Prosecco Recipe

One year, Erik and I went to a famous Vegas buffet (okay fine, we went to several) and made sure to stop by one that had bottomless mimosas! It was definitely exciting waiting in anticipation of those endless mimosas… except that they were not very good. Dang it!

So we immediately went home, after walking like a hundred miles to work off the Tour of Buffets or whatever it was called, and made some mimosa with Prosecco. At home, you can make yours with your favorite (and much better quality) bubbly, be it Champagne, Prosecco or any other sparkling wine. With fresh-squeezed orange juice, your mimosa game is upped big time for an amazing brunch (with all of the breakfast potatoes, monkey bread, and fluffy vegan pancakes you can eat), a birthday treat, Mother’s Day and all of the holidays!

Mimosa Ingredients

A mimosa is made with just 2 ingredients: a bubbly component and orange juice.

  • Orange Juice – make sure to use chilled, fresh-squeezed orange juice for the best flavor. In a pinch, you can use bottled.
  • Bubbly – We make our Mimosa with Prosecco, but you can use Champagne or sparkling wine, depending on your taste preference.

How to Make Mimosa with Prosecco, Champagne or Sparkling Wine

A mimosa cocktail is so easy to make, it’ll be ready in just 1 minute. The bubbly, tart and refreshing taste goes so well with heavy brunch items by lightening things up.

  1. Fill a champagne flute half-way with chilled freshly squeezed orange juice.
  2. Pop a bottle of champagne or Prosecco. Fill the glass up as much as you’d like with the bubbly. Enjoy!

How to Make a Virgin Mimosa

  1. Fill a champagne flute halfway with chilled orange juice.
  2. Fill up the flute the rest of the way with club soda. You’ve just made a virgin mimosa mocktail!

Variations

  • Grapefruit Mimosa – sub orange juice with grapefruit juice (you can use less for less bite)
  • Sunrise Mimosa – click for recipe
  • Apple Cider Mimosa – stir together 1 part apple cider, a dash of honey and 1 part orange juice. Fill champagne flute halfway. Top off with champagne or Prosecco.

Ingredients 

  • 1 (750 ml) bottle Prosecco, Champagne, or sparkling wine
  • 3 cups orange juice, freshly-squeezed is best

Instructions 

  • Set out champagne glasses. Fill each glass about ½ way with Prosecco.
  • Squeeze orange juice easily from a dozen oranges using this electric citrus squeezer. Add orange juice to the champagne flutes until you reach nearly to the top.
  • Garnish with an orange wedge. Sip and enjoy!

Notes

  • Tip for Orange Wedge garnish: to get the orange wedge to stay on the glass, slice it nearly in half, creating an opening for the rim of the glass. Hold the orange wedge open over the rim of the glass then allow it to close over that rim, thereby creating a clamp.
