What’s the Point of Peanut Butter Toast Recipes?

I mean, don’t you just slap some peanut butter onto a slice of bread and call it a day? Well, you totally could. However, as a longtime eater, first time recipe writer-downer of peanut butter toast recipes, I must say, it’s not that simple.

After many, many rounds of day-in-day-out eating plain peanut butter toast, I’m craving variety. But do I have the brainpower to be developing said yummy variety on the fly, when I’m in a work stupor? Nope!

So I got into the kitchen, thought up a few tasty, slump-shakeup peanut butter toast recipes for your culinary delight. Try some for yourself and see if you get inspired to create your own.

How to Make Peanut Butter Toast

The base for peanut butter toast is pretty simple: grab 1 slice of your favorite sandwich bread and slather on 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. I like using Dave’s Killer Bread, the organic 21 Whole Grains and Seeds flavor, because it’s made with whole ingredients and packed with so much seedy goodness like sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, poppy seeds.

Then, I slather on 2 tablespoons of unsalted, natural creamy peanut butter. I love that natural peanut butter is so liquidy because sandwich bread can get kinda dry. As a result, the liquidy nature of peanut butter balances out the dryness of bread.

Lastly, I go to one of the recipes below to make sure I jazz up my peanut butter toast with the tastiest toppings. I sometimes even make a batch of keto peanut butter balls to go on the side… 😉

What to Put on Peanut Butter Toast?

What to put on peanut butter toast? Isn’t that the Question of the Day? I like to shake things up with different dessert-inspired toppings for when I’m craving all the sweets, then using fresh, juicy and crunchy ingredients for the days when I need a texture twist. Try the peanut butter toppings below and let me know what you like best! (Or, what your own recipes are!)

Shaking Things Up: Fun Peanut Butter Toast Recipes So You Don’t Get Sick of Plain Ol’ Peanut Butter Toast

Peanut Butter Toast #1: Goin’ Strawberries for Granola

This peanut butter toast recipe is inspired by the classic PB+J, made with strawberry J, of course. I like the combo of fresh fruits, crunchy granola, and, optionally, delicious granules of monkfruit or creamy white chocolate chips.

  • 1 to 2 fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1-2 teaspoons granola, smaller pieces
  • (opt): ½ teaspoon granulated monkfruit or 1 teaspoon white chocolate chips

Peanut Butter Toast #2: The Half & Half

Such a fun one to make! This toast is called The Half and half just like the cookie because it’s half covered in peanut butter, half in chocolate hazelnut spread. We swap the kind of tasty chips on top for a fun contrasting flavor combo on each side.

  • For the Nut Butter:
  • 1 teaspoon ea:
  • Optional: drizzle chocolate syrup

Peanut Butter Toast #3: Blissful Blueberry Coconut Morning

For fresh fruit or even dried fruit lovers who can’t think of blueberries without thinking of coconut. Juicy fresh blueberries pair so well with crispy dried coconut chips all atop a bed of smooth peanut butter. For a fun twist, try using dried blueberries instead and a few zests of fresh lemon rind!

  • 2 tablespoons blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened coconut chips
  • Optional: use dried blueberries for a sweeter twist & add a few zests of lemon rind

Crunchy, drizzly and creamy, the Maple Pecan Perfection toast is a yummy, health-ified version of a pecan pie. You can use candied pecans for an extra dessert boost, or even a spray of whipped cream on top (shhh… I won’t tell.)

  • 1-2 tablespoons pecans or candied pecans
